American Food ...er..Folk Festival
So my #2 son and I took in the American Folk Festival here in Bangor last Sat. Heard some great music; had some great food. Following the chicken-on-a-stick we took in the Quebe Sisters. Great talent on the fiddles and lovely 3-part Andrew's sisters type harmony. Although after 5 songs the sisters weren't the only thing we were having a hard time telling apart. I like country but I used up all my twang quota for the day. So back for some dough boys and the next act. The polish accordion player was excellent. He got stuck in the small but cozy 2 rivers stage but put on an informative as well as entertaining show. Plus we were working on the strawberry banana smoothies by then. With some time and about $7 to kill we went for a round of funnel cake and lemonade before sitting down for the Dixie Hummingbirds. Nice gospel sound with a guy who could sing lower than the Penobscot river behind him. Good stuff. #2 and I trudged home after that. Maybe there's some food at home. Check out the official program:
